Absence of Impact Assessment June to October
7th November 2018
We are continuing our scrutiny of the reasoning given for European Commission legislative proposals not being accompanied by Impact Assessments. From June to October 2018, 14 of 33 proposals for a Directive or Regulation were not accompanied by an Impact Assessment. Of these 14 absences, for four we found no justification or otherwise to have been initiated contrary to guidelines, with an additional five having insufficient justification.
Our evaluations are shown in the table below (right hand column) and are colour coded as follows:
-
Adequate justification provided
-
Insufficient justification provided or some concerns regarding lack of Impact Assessment
-
Absence of Impact Assessment not justified and/or contrary to guidelines and procedure - further review necessary
We would welcome additional insights on any of the listed initiatives.
